Abstract
Anne
Carson's
poetry
returns
to the
theme
of
error
throughout
her
body
of
work
; in
addressing
this
interest
in
errancy
,
I
propose
its
relation
to
Carson's
interest
in
epistemology
.
Error
acts
most
crucially
as a
learning
event
in
Carson's
oeuvre
. In this
thesis
I
build
a
reading
of her
works
based
upon
the
ideas
Carson
presents
in her
poem
"
Essay
on What
I
Think
About
Most
" in
Men
in the
Off
Hours
,
applying
its
proposals
on
error
as "an
interesting
and
valuable
mental
event
" to her
other
work
.
